Electric vehicles are revolutionizing our world like never before. With more people and governments pushing to go green all around the globe, the demand for electric vehicles has increased swiftly in recent years. Yet, challenges abound in terms of optimizing the energy usage, finding the service providers for maintenance, getting the right financing to buy the vehicle, among others. This industry narrative is what Endera intends to change with its stellar vehicles and solutions that are disrupting the whole EV industry.
Endera offers just about everything users would want in an electric vehicle (EV)—state-of-the-art vehicles, smarter charging and highly advanced telematic software solutions. In short, the company’s products and solutions provide end-to-end turn-key solutions for all its clients’ EV requirements.
As a vertically integrated technology company, Endera manufactures, sells, and services American made electric vehicles, leveraging leading manufacturing technologies. With the lowest total costs of ownership compared to other commercial electric vehicle offerings, Endera is the first to market with a sustainable solution that challenges its fossil fuel competitors in many aspects—price, service, profitability, and more. “At Endera, we pride ourselves on our ability to help customers save money, and at the same time, play a big part in the organization reaching their goals in sustainability,” says John Walsh, Founder andCEO of Endera. Adding more value to the brand, Endera acquired Ohio-based shuttle builder Metro Titan, from which Endera will now manufacture electric Type A school buses, shuttle buses, and paratransit vehicles built on electrified Ford and Chevrolet chassis for a wide range of customers.
Endera’s tireless quest for innovation reflects not just in its vehicles but also in all the other processes it has simplified to make life easier for its customers—finance and maintenance. Endera addresses the pain points in maintenance with a service network that is spread across 2500 locations, whereby customers can easily service, repair or maintain their vehicles anywhere throughout the country. On the financing front, Endera offers tailored financing solutions to support its clients’ different financing needs by partnering with a network of finance companies.
Alongside, the company also enlightens their customers about various federal and state funding opportunities to help them lower the total cost of ownership in purchasing EVs. “We make sure we satisfy all our client needs by providing them with all-encompassing end-to-end solutions,” says Walsh. “In simple terms, we act as a one-stop-shop for them.”
The California-based company’s stunning fleets of vehicles come with a lightweight, rust-free composite body that enables them to cover maximum range. These vehicles, on average, can achieve a range of up to 150 miles on a fully-packed 25 passenger bus, with 2.25 hours of charge—with the biggest shuttle being the model D5, which accommodates 32 passengers with a range of 120 miles. With smarter charging infrastructures, the vehicles charge in as low as 1.8 hours, making them the most efficient electric shuttles in the US market. The company employs charging-as-a-service business model for clients who do not want to outlay cash on charging infrastructures. Endera funds and finances the entire charging infrastructures, and the clients get the bill at every month’s end according to their energy usage. Endera’s charging stations offer two types of charging—fast and slow. The high-powered DC chargers and slow AC chargers enable customers to charge vehicles quickly during their breaks—at a rate of one mile per minute—and as well as charge them slowly when the vehicles are idle, respectively. This switch between fast and slow charging helps keep the vehicle’s battery in good condition, as continuous use of fast chargers may degrade the batteries. “We have energy management software that suggests appropriate timings to the driver as to when the charging prices will be lower per kilowatt-hour in a day, thereby helping them take smarter energy decisions and lowering their cost of energy,” informs Walsh. On an equal note, to enhance the rider experience, Endera offers an app called EnderaGo, which is available both in Google Play Store and App Store. This app allows riders to see in real time where Endera’s buses are from their locations and when the buses would arrive at their boarding point. It enables the riders to know the seat availability while also giving them the ability to provide feedback on their experience. “With an Uber-like feature that is similar to shared mobility solution, you can reduce your anxiety just by knowing simply when the bus is going to arrive,” explains Walsh. Alongside, Endera’s vehicles make use of computer vision technology with facial detection to automate rider counts and driver reports and a camera module that includes an onboard computer that calculates accurate rider counts using cutting edge technology. Besides these perks, Endera has an online customer service center where customers or drivers could remotely resolve any issues they face.
With its unparalleled products and services in the market, Endera has been winning the hearts of numerous happy clients since its inception in 2019. Recently, Endera made headlines by delivering 29 all-electric vehicles to the San Diego International Airport—which is the largest ever deployment of electric shuttles at an airport in the US history. To optimize its vehicles in respect to the patterns of daily vehicle usage, the company gathered all the required information as to how many miles the vehicles cover daily, how long they remain idle, at what time frames the vehicles experience high rider traffic, and other related information. After collating and analyzing the information, the company customized the size of its charging stations and optimized the overall efficiency of the vehicles in the airport—saving over $20,000 a year per vehicle vs LPG or CNG vehicles.
The future looks extremely bright for Endera, with orders flowing in from numerous private and government organizations and institutions. Having bought a school bus OEM plant recently that is spread across 250,000 sq. ft, Endera plans to expand into the school bus market by rolling out all-electric school buses. The company further plans to refine the vehicles’ body design and also optimize the shuttle bus manufacturing and logistics. With a compelling vision that has been at the forefront of propelling many innovative concepts and ideas, Endera is all set to redefine the future of EV.
